Is Elon a Genius?

@advaitmb [1655364974]: Ironically, a rant about how Elon Musk's personality cult has been fascinating me led to the creation of this blog format between Rishabh, Tarun and I. I don't think Tarun even knows yet that we are (and he is) doing something like this. This is honestly the quickest idea to action conversion we have has as a group - honestly, ever. This discussion started with me getting into another one of my rabit holes, where some disconence in my mind embarks me on an obsessive pursuit to clear the said disconence. This time, it was this urge to idealise people, and how my mind was coming up with defences every time I resisted the temptetion. Why was my mind trying to defend Elon Musk? Had his personality marketing gotten a hold over me? But honestly, this is not about Elon Musk - he is but an instance of this tendancy I ( and perhaps we all) have. Coming up with non-messy representations of concepts in our mind - where we try to categorise them into clear boxes. For instance, either idolise people or declare them as absolute shams. I had a similar phase with Gandhi just a few weeks ago. Well, comparing Gandhi to Elon is like comaring Jobs to Trump is like comapring Apples to Oranges (yes, I shoveed in Jobs and Trumps to to make an apples to oranges joke.) But honeslty, one cannot possibly compare Gandhi to Elon - despite all Gandhi perverse 'Experiments with Truth', he did give India and the word one of the most influential schools of thoughts. But thats the catch - is 'despite' permissible? The question finally comes down to that, I feel (atleast at the moment it does)n Okay these are two seperate issues - Elon Musk's personality marketing and how the world sees him a genius is a completely seperate issue than whether we can have respect someone's work while despising some other stuff they did, and whether we can despise someone, yet respect some on their work. These issues are, I admit, related. But still need to be seperately discussed in their won right. Solving one might help untangling the other, but they still need to have sepereate resolutions.
